Turning Up the Sizzle at Hard Rock Cafe Andheri West

IMG-20160212-WA0038When you get an invite from an Iconic place to check out their very aptly named “Turn up the Sizzle” fest, the excitement is palpable. I knew my partner in food crimes, my other half, won’t be in town; so I decided to make it a girly evening out. Thus there we were, I along with my school friend Bhanima, at the Hard Rock Café, Andheri, turning up the sizzle, literally.

Turn Up the Sizzle is HRC’s limited time menu offering “a combination of lip – smacking sizzlers, effervescent Long Island Iced Teas and Shots”. That’s not all. Along with that, HRC has on all days of week, across all outlets in India, Karaoke nights, DJ Nights, Thursday Band nights and Retro nights for the patrons to enjoy. This doesn’t end here. Each week HRC gives the chance to win a couple’s night stay at India’s first Hard Rock hotel in Goa. Howzzat!!! This will be running for the whole month of February.

IMG-20160212-WA0042Both Bhanima and I reached HRC straight after work. We were sure looking forward to have a good time there since it was a Thursday Band Night and a band called Daira was to play. We were seated and were introduced to Nimesh who would serve us for the evening. A quick glance through the Sizzle menu and we went by his recommendation and chose a Texas Ice Tea and a Calypso Ice Tea. All the LIITs in this Sizzle menu are priced at Rs.525 a glass and Rs.2100 for a pitcher. Calypso is a fruity drink with mixture of Apple, Water melon, Pine Apple and Lime topped with Cranberry juice. If you want to let your hair down after work and enjoy an energetic and strong drink, I would suggest you go for this one. Texas Iced Tea as they said is one of their bestselling LIITs in the menu and we could clearly see why. It’s super smooth and very good. For those who love their drinks hard and strong please opt for Double Trouble. Since I am not too much of a whiskey person, I found it extra strong. But my friend who drinks whiskey enjoyed the LIIT thoroughly. We tried 2 of their very popular shots as well – Mad Rock and Azul. I loved Azul. About Mad Rock, my friend commented that it was the “sweetest shot” she had ever had!

IMG-20160212-WA0040For mains, we wanted to try both their vegetarian and non vegetarian skillets. We decided to go by Nimesh’s recommendation and asked for Italian Mafia Skillet (Rs.495) for the Vegetarian option and Mexican Chipotle Chicken and Prawn Skillet (Rs.595)as the non vegetarian option. Italian Mafia Skillet comprised of crispy spinach and cottage cheese croquette served on a bed of grilled chimichurri veg with caprese salad, spaghetti aglio e olio with cherry tomato ragout. This dish was a clear winner for me as it served my favourite pasta. I am a big fan of Spaghetti aglio e olio and it is so easy get this simple dish wrong. But the chef did full justice to the dish and it was served just the way I preferred. The Caprese salad had few amazing Mozzarella slices and I would not have minded a few more! Talk about me being cheesy here.

IMG-20160212-WA0039The Mexican Chipotle Chicken and Prawn Skillet is a bestseller from the smoking sizzler menu and we could clearly see why. The dish lived every bit upto what it said it would offer. The smokiness of the Chipotle grilled chicken and prawns was just the way it should be. The tangy salsa and Mexican rice was well cooked and the accompanied smoked chilli cilantro sauce and masala fries added much more to it. We both wiped the dishes clean.

IMG-20160212-WA0041As we were half way through our main course, the band started playing. They sang 2 of their original songs and then moved on to covers. The first cover was “Brick in the wall” which made us smile. That’s a song generations have grown up listening to.

Both of us had been to HRC before and honestly I always ended up with their “so famous and must have” burgers. This sizzler menu is something I would say is not to be missed. HRC is a fun place to be; whether with friends or family. And when you get such a sizzling menu to choose from, you can  rest assured that the evening will surely NOT be “Another brick in the wall”.

IMG-20160212-WA0037_1Do check out their limited menu of Sizzlers and the LIITS and shots all through February and across all HRCs in the country.
