The Picnic Table @ The Gateway Resorts, Damdama

One thing that kids of this generation miss is the time of their parents. Thanks to the social media, they are very smart for their age and are mostly seen around the TV or at the dining table. The open green area has reduced and so has the outing. I am sure we all remember that every household in 80’s used to have a picnic basket which was taken out every now and then we would go out with our parents to that park to have the meal that mom cooked normally consisting of poori-aloo or sandwiches. The kids would take out their board games and comics just to lay around the park and soak some sun in winters. In my opinion that picnic time has been the biggest casualty of the modern times.

It is not that we as parents don’t want to give that time, but the real issue is that when both the parents are working, they don’t want to go back to kitchen to prepare that something special and make all arrangements along with games etc to be carried to the picnic, apart from finding neat and clean un-crowded place for the picnic. If you have also faced this problem, then here is the solution…

I recently visited The Gateway Resort, Damdama that has started a place for family outings on weekends called ‘The Picnic Table’. Damdama is hardly 15 km’s from main Gurgaon and around 35km’s from Delhi. With a separate entry that directly takes you to this adventure park, you can avoid the main entry to the hotel (and miss the golf cart ride too). With various options like camel and horse ride, gun shooting, Archery, zip line, wall climbing, chess, ludo, Magic show and so many other options, The Picnic Table is ideal for weekend family outings…especially when the weather is just right to soak some sun.

The all inclusive pricing of the menu that has small portion size ensures one can try many dishes. The dishes are not a gourmet delight but good enough to have them as a picnic food. The burgers, sandwiches, patties, rolls etc along with some shakes or hot tea is enough to have a fun-filled day. I just did!
