Sucré Bakery, Gurgaon: Interesting Goodies

One fine Saturday morning an attractive looking package lands up at my doorsteps. One peek in and I see and smell some good looking stuff. This has been sent by Suhasini Sood, niece of the veteran Gurgaon Food Freak facebook group member Rajeev Sood.

Suhasini is the Chef &Owner of Sucré and discovered her love for baking while living in France, and set up Sucré in 2011. Suhasini ran Sucré as a home-baker for 3 years, before setting up a professional base kitchen in early 2014 and re-launched to reach out to many channels, including a planned retail store and supplying to others.

I ask Suhasini what is it that makes Sucré different from other bakeries. “We like to make them the old-fashioned way with rich ingredients so that every bite is delicious. We believe we have a genuinely good product, an international patisserie brand, and a business model that enables us to deliver the very best quality but at lower price points” she says.

And yes, the products do taste good. I first try their lemon pound cake (Rs 500), a lemon cake with lots of lemon zest, and soaked in lemon syrup which keeps it moist and lemony. There are three varieties of cupcakes, a Chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganache (Rs 60), a banana cupcake with milk chocolate ganache (Rs 70) and my favourite, walnut cupcake with coffee buttercream (Rs 70). While all cupcakes are an indulgence, I just can’t get enough of the walnut coffee combination.

Then there are two kinds of cookies also in the goodie bag, and both of them are rather nice. Oat cookies have loads of oats spiced with cinnamon. Almond and fennel biscotti thins are zero fat addictive, crunchy and guilt free. Both these cookies are Rs 500 for 500 gms.
