Dudefood, Opp Venky College, Delhi: Dude Here Is Your Food!

ExteriorsNothing satisfies on a low day as much as calorie filled indulgence that could be chocolate, gooey cheesy snacks including donuts, chips, pizzas and burgers. Gluttony helps! These food help release endorphins that help us feel better and such occasional binging is better than medication. Even if it means holding breath while getting the picture clicked 🙂

_DSC0026I am at Dude Food, a popular concept in America but new to India. It is just the second day of its operations of this 36-seater, but given the curiosity in my mind on what all would it offer, I drove empty stomach from Gurgaon to Satya Niketan in Delhi to binge. Being evening time (neither lunch nor dinner) it isn’t a rush hour at Dudefood and I miss the pretty faces from Venky college that is just bang opposite. My primary reason is food, but few more endorphins doesn’t hurt anyone 🙂

_DSC0028Dudefood oozes energy and reminds me of the hangout places when I was ‘young’, except that with time Dudefood is more chic and modern; Graffiti and caricatures on the walls, foot tapping music, A television style show window, statue of liberty with an attitude, a fancy and electric version of ‘pizza hut’ version of the happy meal ‘bell’, colorful chairs, and the pricing that will have everyone by surprise. I look happier just by looking at the menu. This is called positive energy and I needed it much more of it after a bad day at office.

African French friesI want to taste it all and I am hungry. The pocket friendly pricing that ranges from Rs 55 in each category and goes upto Rs395 for the most expensive item on the menu makes me even hungrier. I start with my only healthy dish for the day – minestrone soup (75). A very comforting soup but I am here for the purpose, and that is to indulge.  Next comes the African French fries topped with cheese, mayo ketchup, onions and liberal use of chicken chunks accompanied with sauce that has chopped onion and cheese again. So very addictive and I must say, I am one of those rare people who don’t like French fries. The dude drunken chicken (295) is giant 14 pcs portion of juicy chicken wings done in spicy drums of chicken style.

Double patty mutton burgerNext comes meatball sub (145) dripping with cheese and tomato sauce and a  250gm double patty mutton burger with cheese, fried egg, smoked bacon, lettuce, onion, tomato and wedges & pickles. I am not a dreamer but the pricing of Rs185 makes me wonder if I am in heaven. The wonderfully juicy patty with bacon at this price is a steal and there is no fear of police action too 🙂

Garbage plateIf I was finishing everything then I would burst by now, but this is supposed to be a tasting session where even if I like I force myself not to over eat to try other goodies. Last two items on my wish list are Dude garbage plate and double fried Mars chocolate. Dude garbage plate is the most expensive dish on the menu at Rs345 with macaroni, tomato, cream sauce, French fries, shredded chicken, sausage strips, Bolognese, fried egg and chicken burger. It is undoubtedly a huge portion of protein and carbs, what I miss is gooey cheese or a dip to bring all of these elements together. The owner, Sumit Goyal, is a serious businessman and notes my observation immediately. Am sure this will be soon taken care.

Have you ever tried chocolate momo? If not, better try the thin batter fried frozen mars chocolate. It is sinful, but small life is not worth always trying to be correct. So dude…here is my food.
