Rotary Club of Bombay Powai and Hiranandani Group come together to launch the Powai Fest 2014

January 2014 will bring an addition to the list of art & culture festivals in Mumbai with the launch of ‘Powai Fest’ by the Rotary Club of Bombay Powai in association with the Hiranandani Group.  Created with the endeavor to serve communities by celebrating life, this festival will witness events ranging from sports, nature trails, music and culture starting 10th January 2014 onwards

The first edition of the ‘Powai Fest’ is being dedicated to the everlasting memory of the legend in the ENT field and social causes, Dr. L.H Hiranandani. Contributing significantly to the world of sciences, he came to be known as a modern day robin-hood as he treated the poor for free. Gaining the proudest achievement of no patient giving way on the operation table, this real life hero bears the tribute of a number of operating techniques honoured to him as well.

Designed around a radius of 1km the festival ensures its participants and audiences can revel in the spirit of the fest.  To accelerate the fun the organizers have included events deep rooted with the Indian culture like bonsai and warli painting in addition to badminton, table tennis, squash football, photography, cookery, singing, dancing, corporate quizzes, canine wonders and much more.

Apart from being a cultural and sports fest with a focus on celebrating life, the organizers have collaborated with the Rotary Club for its many social programs namely, Swastha Ma Swastha Shishu (Maternal and Child Health Care),  Mangal Patra (To double the number of children under the Mid-day meal), Loan Scholoarships for the needy students, Women Empowerment through Vocational Training, Funds to build Corpus for Long-term Objectives of the Rotary Community welfare center, Crematorium Up-gradation, Support to our International Cause ” Eradication of Polio From the face of the Earth”.

To add the glitz and glamour to this sensational event the organizers have not only arranged for a wine tasting and dinner on its inaugural day but will also feature the signing diva Shalmali Kholgade in her best avatar. Catch the glam girl bring back the magic of her best hits through the year. Be it the wacky song ‘Daaru Desi’ to the oomphalicious ‘Laat Laag Gayi’. From the exhilarating ‘Balam Pichkari’ and ‘Chingam Chabake’ to the passionate ‘Pareshaan’, don’t miss her set the mood through the event.
