In an attempt to reach out to more customers in Gurgaon, Fat Lulu’s has started a much more reasonably priced take away which now offers exciting sounding starters, sandwiches and pizza slices at their new Galleria outlet. I am here to taste some of the offerings.
I start by tasting the spicy chicken wings (Rs 125) which are an Indian adaptation of the favourite US bar staple – Buffalo wings. In their Indian avatar, the skin has been removed, and the sauce made more Indian tasting. The end result is a light and tasty bite tailor-made for the Indian palate and something ideally suited for your evening mug of beer.
Next I am on to the newly introduced sandwiches. The first I taste is called The Torini (Rs 225), and I assume it has been named after Torino, an interesting city in the Piemonte region of Italy. The regular bread grilled sandwich has grilled chicken, the Italian cow’s milk cheese scarmoza, roasted peppers, pesto and caramelized onions. The sandwich looks pretty and tastes pleasant.
The Napoli (Rs 225), deriving its name from Naples, one of the oldest continuously-inhabited cities in the world is a sandwich made out of baguette. The filling is lamb meatball; tomato based marinara sauce, mozzarella and parmesan. The sandwich is exciting with its meaty, cheesy, gooey and tomatoey interiors. Notably, for both these sandwiches the ingredients are of good quality and are fresh.
Fat Lulu takeaway is a good choice for a take away meal. The prices are more reasonable making it easy for people to choose individual dishes. This is likely to be a viable option especially for those who live or work in the vicinity of the Galleria market.
