Hokey Pokey Icecream: Creations Born on a Cold Stone

[Rated: 3.5/5]

Lavazza San MarcoThis is the first time I’m writing about ice-cream.  It’s just that whenever I had it in the past, I didn’t pay close attention to what I was eating. My favourite flavour is Vanilla as I could add whichever syrup I wanted. But I was in for something really adventurous when I visited Hokey Pokey recently.

The USP of this ice-cream parlour is the cold stone on which different flavours of ice-creams can be mixed to get something completely new. Also, you can be the masterchef by doing it without any assistance from the Hokey Pokey Boys.

I will skip this part and go directly to the creations my friend Rachana and I opted for. We started with a Double Chocolate Therapy, followed by Nutty Green Apple (our own creation) and Wonderland Magic. Let’s take this one-by-one.

Double Chocolate TherapyDouble Chocolate Therapy – This was a mixture of dark Belgian chocolate ice cream with brownie, nutella and dark chocolate fudge. Note down the number of times I’ve mentioned the word “chocolate” in the above sentence. There’s a connection. That’s how “chocolate-ty” this creation was. It’s one of Hokey Pokey’s specialties. However, if you are not a dark chocolate fan, I suggest you avoid it. Double Chocolate Therapy starts getting bitter as you reach the bottom of the waffle cup.

IMG_5647While Rachana nibbled on chocolate, I got myself the Nutty Green Apple in a waffle cone. It was a scoop of green apple flavour that was mixed with chopped roasted almond and cashew nuts. The mix was of a creamy texture and delicious. I couldn’t get over the flavour even after having the next creation. The after taste lasted till I had my supper that night.

IMG_5660We thought we were done here, but we were tempted to have yet another creation by Hokey Pokey – Wonderland Magic. This was a blend of Swiss Strawberry ice cream with Twix (we opted for Bounty instead), gems and rainbow sprinkles. Pieces of gems excited us like kids and the rainbow sprinkle added flavour to the scoop. Everyone, including children will love this creation for the creamy texture and colourful mix-ins.

IMG_5653Favours served by Hokey Pokey include Lavazza Coffee Cream (a special flavour), Dark Belgian Chocolate, Strawberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Temptation, Blueberry, Alpen Butterscotch, French Vanilla, Green Apple, Boom Boom Bubblegum, Swiss Strawberry, Natural Mint and Banana Caramel.

IMG_5659These flavours can be mixed with premiums like Ferrero Rocher, Cadbury Bournville, Twix, Hello Panda – chocolate, Bounty, Galaxy, Nutella, Skippy Peanut Butter and Cracker. There are classic mix-ins as well such as Oreo cookies, Cookie Milano, Gems, Perk, Brownies, Diary Milk, Chocolate Chips, Almonds, Rainbow Sprinkles, Chocolate Sprinkles, Walnuts, Praline Cashew, Dark Chocolate Fudge, Jujubes, Cashews and White Chocolate Fudge.

IMG_5644The service by the Hokey Pokey boys is excellent. Creations are mixed within a minute so no one is kept waiting for long to treat themselves to delicious flavours of ice cream. You can also choose to have these flavours delivered to your home.
