Spa Lounge, Pullman, Gurgaon: Food for the Soul

Couple Spa Room 1There is something about a spa that even the mention of the word start relaxing the body and mind. I have been out on too many restaurant reviews recently and before things at home gets out of hands; it is time to damage control and pamper my wife. I book a couple spa at the Spa Lounge at Pullman Hotel and plan to surprise her on a weekend.

InteriorsThe beautiful spa at the ground floor is in front of the fitness centre and next to the swimming pool. The four single therapy rooms and one couple room named after flowers are all equipped with steam-shower with soothing music running in the background. Couple Spa Room foot ritualWe are welcome with a ginger honey tea and then a foot ritual which is done before all massages. Not many people follow the foot cleansing at spas. It not only prepares the body for the experience, it also cleanses the feet which takes away the foul aroma that comes when someone has just taken off the shoes.

Flower decorationThe water is perfectly warm and I select lavender that relaxes while my wife selects peppermint that refreshes as the aroma for out foot wash. We change our costume and gets ready for Swedish massage. This massage is neither too soft like Balinese nor too tough like deep tissue. The 50 min therapy (excluding steam-shower and foot ritual) starts with a gentle and soft back massage with face overlooking at a thoughtful flower decoration on the floor. Couple Spa RoomThe pressure is increased to check our convenience and then what follows is magical. The expert and trained hands runs therapeutically across the body that includes bending, slight stretching and circular pressure applied with palms and hands. The rhythmic moments leave us speechless and we venture into a territory of peace and tranquillity.

The Harmony oil that is used is a mix of lavender, bergamot and mandarin. It is judiciously applied so as to provide a base for massage without making the body too oily.

PillowIn some time we are asked to lie down on our back with a pillow placed between our knees and we again get down to deep slumber. The 50-min therapy relaxes us like after we have been through a long night sound sleep. Each area is taken good care of except the buttocks which are specifically avoided by the policy of spa given that there are only female masseurs.

Tea & refreshing towelThe steam is ready and we go for a 7-min steam followed by a shower. Warm water takes away any traces of oil and soft and clean towels are meticulously placed outside the steam room. I feel a glass of juice or tea post the session is equally important and if it could be included as part of overall package, it will further accentuate the experience. I felt at least a few kgs lighter and refreshed again to go for a restaurant review, where my wife will let me go alone, happily.
