Magnum Launch Mumbai with Chef Kunal Kapoor– a chocolatey, Ice creamy and a more chocolatey affair!

The stage is setA Saturday afternoon with a happy dose of Ice cream, chocolates and more chocolates? That’s precisely what I got on the 15th of February when Magnum launched their world famous thick chocolate coated ice creams at Bungalow 9 Bandra, along with Master Chef Kunal Kapoor. Magnum has long been a strong player in the world of stick ice creams focusing mainly on chocolate coated ice creams and using 100% Belgian chocolate for the same. Their most popular versions are: the classic, the almond and the truffle versions.

Choco chips samples (3)The organizers had paid a lot of attention to detail as the tables were laid with accents, candles and table décor all monogrammed with the magnum M. On each table there were 3 different samples of chocolate chips waiting to be tasted. The very charming and dynamic master chef Kunal Kapoor made an entry to the sound of a resounding applause and went on to explain the nuances of fine chocolates. The chocolate chips set on the table were the same kind as those used in the magnum ice cream and the audience was made to do a taste test and feel how soft, creamy and buttery the chocolate textures felt in the mouth. Another interesting feature to note was that the Chocolate is so fine and pure that it does not leave any residual greasiness in the mouth and melts away easily as soon as it is put in the mouth.

The Ice Cream (2)We were offered to try one of the signature ice creams from Magnum and I chose a Chocolate truffle Magnum. I was quite happy to note the crunch on the first bite and even happier to see dark chocolate ribbons mixed with the milk chocolate softness on the inside. The ice cream is indeed made with the best ingredients and it is quite evident in the fact that despite the same sitting on my plate for a while, the chocolate coating hadn’t melted away. Similarly after the first bite the ice cream didn’t turn into a liquidy slimy sludge and maintained its firm texture till the last .

The Master Chef and his Muse (2)Chef Kunal Kapoor gave us a demo by garnishing the ice cream with some white chocolate sauce, sprinkles and strawberries and encouraged all the bloggers in the room try their hand on it as well. We used the 3 flavours of the ice cream and prepared a presentation using dark and white chocolate sauces, strawberries and silver sprinkles.

Magnum ice creams have already been launched city wide and are selling at your nearest store for Rs.85, with summers round the corner; I believe it is a very welcome treat for all ice cream aficionados like me to have such a good quality product available at a fair price at our nearest store. Now let’s hope that the sun god is equally kind to us with a cooler summer!
