Street Food Festival at K3, JW Marriott, Aerocity, Delhi
#K3 JW Marriott Delhi#Singapore food festival in Delhi

chicken sataySituated in close proximity to the airport and Gurgaon, JW Marriott Hotel in Aerocity is hosting a Singapore Street Food Festival for lunch and dinner from 22nd August to 31st August, 2014. This festival will be hosted at K3, their all day dining, which is already showcasing Tuscan, Cantonese and North Indian cuisine as buffet choices along with a huge selection of desserts.

Guest Chef John Chye, Sous Chef from the Singapore Marriott Hotel, is bringing the flavours of Singapore’s unique multi–cultural heritage to New Delhi. Singaporean favourites such as Singapore Chili Crabs, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Soya Braised Duck With Tofu Skin and Ma Pa Tofu will be on the menu amongst others.

veg startersI started with the Vegetables Rolled in Rice Paper and shot glass shaped Canapés with Veg. Stuffing which were difficult to eat as they were crumbling with each bite and becoming a messy affair. These were followed by the soft Chicken and Mutton Satay with freshly made peanut sauce which were very well made and charred to perfection. The starters were downed by me to the accompaniment of an excellent Singapore Sling, a gin based cocktail invented in and made famous by the Raffles Hotel in Singapore.

pork soupThe Pork Soup with a Rib which followed next had a refreshing pork flavor and star anise flavouring in it. It was definitely the best pork soup I’ve ever had.

chilli crabIn the mains, the Chili Crab was a pleasure to have – it was not very spicy but had lots of garlic and a mildly sweetish taste. However, the vegetarian dishes on offer were a disappointment – the Yellow Curry with Overcooked Vegetables was too watery and lacked any flavour whatsoever and the Vegetable Sweet and Sour was lacking in both sweetness and sourness and was kind of flat in taste.

mutton curryAbsolutely yummy Mutton Shanks, however, came to the rescue right at the end. Soft succulent mutton in a lovely gravy flavoured with green chilies – bliss !

This was an invited review with other food reviewers also present. All the reviewers were sharing a table and as courteous as the waiting staff was, the food was taking forever to come and that too one dish at a time for the ten of us prompting us to repeatedly ask for food. It was just not being churned out to be able to feed all together and somewhere the demand and supply were not seeing eye to eye.
