    Is there a Surjit Dhaba there, famous for Mutton Curry? I heard about it but could not visit.

      1. Ashish i went to Surjit Food plaza again today and found out lot of things have changed again , go ahead try it 🙂 and btw also found out that he is the original Makhan fish shop owner also .

Kya chun chun ke jagah likhi hai , Pehelwal’s Fish is better btw why did u not Mention Mutton Koftas , Mutton and Rice at Gulam bhai’s Place,Liberty Market , Dhol wala meat and Tandoori roti opp. Bus Stand , Telephone exchange ke paas wale mutton chomps , tikkas ? Yeh bhi likho ” oh ho Dr.Saab ne bheja hai Tuhade kolon paise nahi le sakde ” ..remember when that Mutton shop owner saw u r car and refused to take money from me 😀

Novi Gulam Bhai does not make Mutton koftas and mutton now , he told me that the rates of mutton and commercial Gas have gone high and people who used to eat at his place find it difficult to afford , now he makes chicken curry 2)The original Dhol wala Gaini ji has sold his shop to some one as his shoe business is doing very good , he visits me every week for check up (so i know it) , yes IFF u can plz include the vendor(pehelwan da bhai) near Telephone exchange(katra Jaimal singh) near billa paneer bhurji wala he makes awesome Mutton chomps dry, mutton chomps with gravy , Mutton tikka , keema kaleji with Amritsari kulcha .

    1. Amit Bheera chicken after division between the family has opened 4 shops in a row … they brought down the quality and were finished in days …. I still miss their big juicy grilled chicken … have hardly seen a customer there now , yes I agree at one time it was the best

  3. amritsar is full of foodie joints. there are many many others like –next to novelty sweets lawrence road-paneer bhajia wala, since 55 years same shop same standard , same taste, same service. the best paneer bhajia, methi wada, pattor . owner down to earth.
    then lohgarh gate inside ram ke samosas. selling in thousands per day. near bhandari bridge, pakode wala since 60/ 70 years, selling in tons per day. durgiana mandir ki puri.bakewell ki bakery cheese straw. then kanha ke moong daal ke laddo. parde wale samosa , only amritsar can make these in the world.
    pickles and sharbat from bal mukand . sandal sharbat most relishing. then murabba–aam ka–apple ka–gajar ka. no one to beat them.
    the best part is -there are thousands shops selling channa( chole) and each has different recipe.

  5. That is just amazing. All of the best eating places in Amritsar.
    Though, there are some more to add-on; Chaupati and the night food street opposite to crystal restro for Pav-Bhaji, burger, bhel puri and stuff.
    Then, Fruit Ice-Cream is Amritsar’s one of the most exquisite delicacies especially from Arora Fruit Shop, majitha road.
    Then malai tikka, roasted tikka from lovely, inside hathi gate.
    Pakode from the shop near station and near that little stream, Alpha one.

  6. Last time I was in Amritsar, I’d been to Temptation Restaurant on circular road. It was real good and a worthy to be added to your list for continental. I tried Sizzlers and they were really awesome.

  7. What about mithai shops? Kanhaiya sweets – is it still there?
    I wld be visiting Amritsar this sat and would like to pack some great non veg dishes like mutton curry etc along with kulchas etc.. What is the best place to go and get all under the same roof and wld they pack it for carrying it in flight ?
