Cafe Rouge, Ramada Central, Gurgaon: Avoidable

[Rated: 2.0/5]

DSC07399-001I have been to buffets that are at best average, but Ramada Central hits a new low with its offering at Cafe Rouge.

The display looked inviting and if I have to look at the silver lining in the entire spread, it would be the carrot and basil soup which was refreshing and unadulterated with corn flour, pork and chicken ham where chef did not had a role to play, and Dal Makhani which like other dishes was stale however given its attribute, it taste better with time.

DSC07402Unfortunately there is nothing else that grabbed my attention. Starters – Amritsari fish was a over salted pakora with hardly any taste of main ingredient – fish. Chicken salt and pepper was anything but that, veg shami kebab only tasted of spices and though Manchurian has no authentic recipe, at Cafe Rouge they had one of  their own which shouldn’t qualify in its category.

The chat counter served soggy potli samosa and equally soggy and over-salted onion pakoda. Anything which sits in the buffet for so long will meet a similar fate.

DSC07409Paneer butter masala was overly sweet using skimmed milk paneer. Mutton so far looked the best and was also cooked perfectly however overuse of spices rendered it tasteless. It is a difficult task to make a raw roti which also has burnt edges (both at the same time), a feat which Ramada Central’s Cafe Rouge easily achieved.

IDSC07410 wanted to tell the chef that my 10-year old makes a better pizza. This pizza used inadequate topping and the base was raw as it went into oven when it was not properly heated.

Most desserts were either stale with rancid cream or had a dry bread base. If you think there is nothing worth in Gurgaon for Rs1100+ taxes (Rs1298 to be precise), Ramada Central Cafe Rouge is for you.

  1. I’ve been to several Ramada’s all over India, and this review confirms my impressions. Barring 1, the Ramada Jalandhar, all the others are as described above. Bad food, Bad service and nothing to call it an experience..
