Go Kylin, Gurgaon

[Rated: 3.5/5]

Sushi PlatterKylin is a known and loved name for Pan-Asian food in Delhi, and while it has been in Gurgaon for some time, it skipped my attention. The restaurant is located in the club house of MGF Palm Springs and as expected is only meant for the residents and their guests. The USP for the restaurant as they claim is home delivery and hence this outlet is named ‘Go-Kylin’.

Lettuce WrapThe perfect test would be to get the food home delivered but I decided to visit the club house itself. Starting with the Lettuce Wrap (225) it reminded me of my Korean meal. Wrap diced veggies in fresh lettuce, top it up with various accompaniments and eat it like a paan. Very healthy and engaging! The bell pepper were abundant and weren’t as crisp as I would have liked, but it is still worth the start. Prawns caramelized (495) in brown sauce is a must try here. Caramelization made the outer crisp with inside soft and juice.

My friend who accompanied me to Go-Kylin had ordered from here and found the delivery to be quick and efficient.

Chicken SataySushi’s (500) were fresh and nice and accompanied with hard-hitting wasabi, soya and sliced ginger. It finished in no time. Chicken Satay (275) was very fragrant and served along with lemongrass flavoured peanut sauce were good as long as they were hot. Like any chicken, on room temperature, they were impossible to eat. So I can just hope that Go-Kylin can deliver the stuff fast and hot.

Tom Yum Chicken SoupTom Yum Chicken soup was different. Deliberately, as restaurant manager told me, they did not use any tom-yum paste. Had it come to my place I would have sent it back claiming it to be another soup. On its own- the soup was nice, but why risk calling it a Tom-Yum?

LaksaWe tried many dishes in the main course – Laksa, Fish in Chilly basil, Black pepper chicken, Pad Thai noodles and Teppanyaki chicken fried rice. Apart from teppanyaki rice everything failed to leave a mark. Except Laksa we found nothing that was not good, but like earlier dishes none of these dishes had their own character and twist which could leave a mark.
