Ki Hangla, Gurgaon; Bengali Roll Play

[Rated: 4.0/5]

DSC05512There are few places in Gurgaon which can really bring the joy of eating out especially for a budget meal. ‘Ki Hangla’, meaning what a glutton, is a very small 6-months old outlet at Super Mart serving some good authentic Bengali stuff. The place is so small that you may miss it even while crossing.

Mutton RollI started with quite-essential Egg mutton Roll (110) and the flavour just busted in mouth. Boneless juicy morsels of mutton cooked in Kebab Masala and wrapped in a roll which wasn’t oozing with oil. Served with Kasundi and in-house green chutney, these are perhaps the best rolls in Gurgaon. Moving on to the Veg cutlet (90), I was impressed with the fine balance of beetroot, and potatoes. Hing and Peas Kachoories (Puris; 60) served with Dum Aloo and Cholar Dal is a good dish for vegetarians, however Dum Aloo was tad under-cooked.

Mohun Bagan ChingriI went back to my non vegetarian craving and ordered Mohun Bagan Chingri (squids cooked over 2 hours in spinach; 220) and Dhakai Fish Tikka (Marinated Grilled Fish; 150). Both continued to delight my taste buds.

BiryaniBiryani (200) had tender, falling off the bone pieces of mutton; however it still could not end my search for best Biryani in town. My only disappointment here was Mishti Doi (60) which was enough in quantity but had become a little sour. Am sure given everything else worked, it was an aberration.

I could see the passion of Aparajita, who left her corporate lifestyle to get into food business. Rates are reasonable, however you would do well to order at home unless you are okay with the waiting given the small place which can seat max 15 guests.

  1. Hi Pawan,

I am doing a research on ‘Curry’ as one of the top global food in the world. Could you suggest good curry restaurants in Delhi?

    Thanks,
