I was intrigued with the name of recently open pizza joint, Fat Lulu. On visiting this small 30-seater outlet, I was greeted by their Manager cum Chef Amit Kaintura, who broke the suspense –“The owner at Fat Lulu studied in US and had a very popular colleague by this name”.

Not satisfied with the reason behind its name, I ordered my pizzas which came with different basis – Regular, whole wheat, Beetroot, Spinach and Garlic Provencal Herbs. Just like the world serves it, they all thankfully come in thin crust; Pan Pizza tastes more like a pie than a pizza to me. The Hudson Garlic Bread (80) was comfortable and nice. The Veg Spring Salad (350) served with sun dried tomato vinaigrette was a delight; fresh and crisp and enough for 2 of us.

We tried few pizzas in different basis with request to do half and half topping. The Broadway (four cheese pizza), The Soho (Pepperoni and Italian Sausage done in Spinach base), Manhattan (Marinated Chicken breast in garlic Provencal herb), and Central Park (Beetroot, Spinach, asparagus, Shallots and Mushrooms), each pizza was at its best. The different bases provided a different character to them with the generous toppings shouting from the top. Pizzas were adequately seasoned and did not require any addition of Oregano, Chilly Flakes or Rosemary flavored Olive oil. Still I requested for Bhoot Jalokia oil which is not kept on the table for obvious reasons. The oil isn’t too hot but provides a new dimension to the pizza eating.

Chocolate Mousse (Rs125) lacked the Midas touch it had in its Salads and Pizzas, but still worth it’s price.

Priced right for 8” pizza Rs 250 for veg and Rs325 for non-veg, it could become my favorite pizza hangout if it could solve the service confusion amongst its servers who kept mixing dishes and drinks among very few guests at the time I visited. Till then home-delivery will be a preferred option for me.

Ed: By the time this article came for publishing, Fat Lulu has enhanced their prices 🙁
