I like fast food as much as I love fine dining; quick meal at an affordable price for routine eating out. Quiznos, a more than 3 decade old chain from US has recently set up shop in India, and I visited their Gurgaon outlet.
Bright cheerful interiors and an I-Pod attached to each table is a welcome addition in a QSR restaurant. I-Pod not only enables to order the food sitting at the table but also offers lot of interesting games like angry bird and interesting reads ensuring there is never a dull moment.
Service was efficient and I could see within 4 minutes food coming to my table. Quiznos serves Salads, Subs, Pizzas, Soups and Sammies. Hot Barbeque Chicken Salad (160) was crisp and fresh but lacked the chili factor. Menu mentioned Chia Seed (A super food rich in Omega 3 fatty acids) which was conspicuous by its absence. However the Hot Chilli – veg and Chicken pizzas (160/180) were sumptuous. The toppings were generously spread and chicken was perfectly grilled. All the Subs at Quiznos use toasted bread and the quality is as good as Subway. The Chipotle Chicken sub was moist and nice, but the Lamb Shikampuri (175 each) had fried meatballs which had become dry. What a waste of good mutton. Perhaps, for a non- vegetarian it is better to stick to chicken at Quiznos, which anyway does not have many other options.
The best at Quiznos are the pocket-friendly Sammies. This is the first time Sammy is introduced in India which is a multigrain bread open sandwich filled with different fillings. Smoky Chili Chicken Sammie at Rs80 was a healthy alternate at its price, but I would still like to go Subway for a similar meal.
Quiznos claims to serve Frozen Yogurt dessert too but the same was not available at the time of my visit.
Quiznos offers an interesting alternate to the boring QSR outlets in terms of its ambience but on food it falls flat on most offerings.
