Age catches up with all, and I am no exception. With time there is realization to eat healthy food. And then micro-brewery is no more a novelty in Gurgaon.

With the above thought I entered the spacious 7Degrees Brauhaus intoxicating me with its lovely aroma of fresh beer. Luckily having done enough research on Micro Breweries I do not need any help to identify a good beer, but I was worried about getting the same fattening fried stuff one gets at every second bar/restaurant. The menu made me at ease. It is the only place in Gurgaon serving an extensive menu from Germany; Mecca of beer. And to satiate tikka and pasta lovers, also includes a limited world cuisine in its menu. I decided to stick to the healthier Bavarian stuff.

One thing which is strongly recommended here are the variety of sausages. Absolutely the best one can get in India. We tried a platter of sausages consisting of Bratwurst (Pork), Weiner (Frankfurters), Knackwurst (Tenderloin and Pork),  and each was better than the other complimenting the nicely brewed wheat beer (Rs325) served at just the right temperature. Mukesh Singh, Executive Chef and Manager at 7Degree Brauhaus, urged me to try his favorite Chicken and chips (299). Cooked using 3 techniques – Grill to retain juices, Roast to cook and later fried to give an extra crunch, this one was a treat. Grilled Seafood platter (599) consisting of calamari, river sole, Red Snapper, huge seafood sausage and Prawns is another dish worth ordering.

However the restaurant still needs to work their way with the pork and beef. Pork Chops were too dry and the well-done Tenderloin Fillet lost all its texture and become difficult to eat. I don’t like wasting food especially pork which is God’s gift to mankind, but this time couldn’t help it. The menu is extensive for non-vegetarians but vegetarians may not find it too elaborate.

I ended my meal with Chicken Schnitzel (449; breaded cutlet dish made with boneless meat thinned with a hammer, coated in bread crumbs and fried) which was made well enough to break my resolve to eat healthy food. Anyone with sweet tooth should also try the desserts – Kaiserchmann (German Pan Cake) and Eistorte (299 each; combination of ice cream & fruits).

Overall 7Degrees Brauhaus is a lovely place with music decibels just right to strike a conversation and the pricing competitive for a restaurant of its class. Beer is certainly its forte and accompanied with great food, it is in a must visit for the food freaks.
