The Accor group recently launched SEN5ES, an all day dining coffe shop, at its premium Hotel chain – Pullman Gurgaon Central park. Deep Ranjana, restaurant manager says the coffee shop is aptly named to appeals to all five senses.

Entry to the hotel from MG Road passes through a small stretch located on by lanes of a village. Cross it to get entry into a modern and green ambience of this posh hotel. The Ala-carte menu at SEN5ES is currently limited but still offers choicest picks from the world cuisine. Since the buffet available at both lunch and dinner offers most choices from the menu and even more, I decided to go with the buffet, knowing fully-well that buffet is not the best way to judge a kitchen.

The spread consisting of world cuisine was similar to offered by most premium hotels, but availability of Peking duck in the buffet was a pleasant surprise. The Peking duck pancake tasted good too. The fresh soups made as per guests choice was another winner in a buffet. I tried lamb/mutton in three options- Lamb chops, Gosht Biryani and Mutton Roganjosh. Each of these was cooked perfectly – tender, juicy, and falling off the bone. I would have ended my meal with the juicy lamb chops if I wasn’t there to try the other menu items.

The pizza had been on the table for long and wasn’t as fresh. Also the Gnocchi was doughy, not light and fluffy. Seems it had been there in the buffet for long.

Apart from the buffet, I ordered for an egg benedict. It took time to be served but when I get it, it was the perfect flowing egg with beautiful hollandaise sauce and bacon served on an English muffin. One of those simple pleasures, which isn’t served the right way by most restaurants in the city.

The lobster/shrimp corner, pasta section and the desserts needs a special mention. Each was amongst the best and made with care unlike the normal buffet mostly comprising of left-overs. This buffet is perhaps one of those which will surely see me revisiting.
