Zomato Restaurant Guide 2012 Launch

Who says digital is the way to go? Zomato, perhaps the biggest online restaurant guide in India, have just launched the print edition of their food guide.

There are already many city guides available in the market, but Zomato did it differently. Instead of listing the entire directory, it uses ‘Occasion based’ listing which immediately draws attention. So if you are planning to go out for a Romantic Dinner, Dining with kids, Girls night out, Beer in a bar etc, Zomato guide is the place to search best of restaurants in its category.

Print and paper quality is world-class and coupled with beautiful pictures, and an appropriate font size that does not strain the eyes. The guide also provides QR codes for all listed restaurants enabling users to check updated menus, contact information and other details for the restaurants on their smartphones. Listing is based on user ratings given on net by the online users. Some may say that this is the most democratic way to go, but most of us know how easy it is to skew the rating by related parties in their favor by logging in through different accounts.

The launch party was held at Taj Palace and was preceded with a daylong restaurant summit attended by leading restaurateurs, bloggers, food critics and chefs. Some of the prominent guests who attended the meet were Rocky and Mayur (Highway on my plate fame), Chef Bakshish Dean, Manish Mehrotra, Zorawar Kalra, Marryam Reshi and Ashish Kapur. -Amongst some interesting and eye opener debates, the event concluded with stupendous concert by Lucky Ali.

The guide available for Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore at Rs 199  is easily available in the market and online portals. This is definitely worth a buy for everyone who loves to eat out.
