The new 50-seater warmly lit café with soothing music in the back drop is the latest addition on the other side of NH-8. Beside the normal café menu consisting of eggs, sandwiches, pizzas and burgers it rightfully boasts of an impressive Italian menu and equally good in-house bakery.

Though I could not search Jiji’s meaning on the net, but it did bring happiness to me which its owner, Kanad Kashyap claims to suggest. My start wasn’t very impressive with the Virgin Mojito which only tasted of muddled sugar, but the experience got better with the Bruschetta (165), thin crust Fiery Bonanza Pizza (245) and Pesto Risotto (245); each one being better than the other. I like my burgers which can easily fit into an average person’s mouth without any help from cutlery which is criminal to be used for this beautiful comfort food. The Lamb Burger (245) with 120 gram of patty had a soft bun filled with onion rings and sized just right. But the patty was dry, a case of over cooking. Thankfully, the management acknowledged that it was a rare miss which in itself helped the restaurant gain my brownie points.

The in-house bakery serves great desserts. I tried Tiramisu (75) and Pineapple pastry (55). The pastry was moist and nice, the way it should be, but I was even more pleased with the Tiramisu. The mascarpone was well textured and coated the dessert well. The restaurant has slightly subdued the bitter flavor from strong coffee and alcohol in Tiramisu, which would work well with most including the young population.

It is a promising start and I look forward to the Bar Lounge and Fine dine Indian restaurant they plan to open in the same complex soon.
