Pind Balluchi, Great India Place (GIP), Noida

[Rated : 3.5/5]

Pind Balluchi is a known restaurant in Delhi NCR for their food at prices catering to the middle class. We had a nice Saturday evening with our cousins at a bowling alley in Noida after which we decided to visit Pind Balluchi in GIP mall. The restaurant located on the 3rd floor near the elevators allows quick access to the hungry souls.

Fortunately at the restaurant, which is normally crowded, we got a table as soon as we reached around 9 PM. The ambience was dimly lit with light Punjabi folk music playing. The painting of Stars and Moon on the roof in light blue fluorescent color gave us a feeling of sitting under a night sky.

Our starters came within 10 minutes and were served hot. Tandoori Chicken (Rs.285-Full / Rs.175-Half) and Mutton Seekh (Rs.175) looked appealing, filling our area with an inviting aroma fuelling our hunger pangs. The Mutton Seekh Kebab was soft and tasted nice. However, the Tandoori Chicken was delicious with a capital “D”. The meat came off the bones easily and melted in our mouth. Soft vinegar onions along with tangy mint sauce complimented our starters well.

For main course we decided to have Daal Makhani (Rs.125), Murg Makhani (Rs.175) (Boneless Butter chicken) and Kadhai Paneer (Rs.155) along with Tandoori Roti (Rs.18) and Lachcha Parantha (Rs.55). We saw the crowd building up and waiters working at frenetic pace to service all with a smile. We had to wait for over 20 minutes for the order to arrive. Murg Makhani had soft pieces of chicken with mildly spiced gravy accompanied with sweetness of cream, which we loved all the way. Kadhai Paneer again had soft chunks of cheese with spicy thick gravy of onion, capsicum, tomato garnished well with chopped ginger, cilantro, red chilly and cream. Dal Makhani was nice and tasted like one would have in any other good restaurant at Delhi.

Only exception to our so far nice experience was Jaljeera (Rs.55) which had an overdose of Jaljeera powder in a small glass and the higher than normal waiting time of twenty minutes for the main course post the starters. The ending however was on a sweet note with Saunf and chunks of Gur (Jaggery)

As we left we could notice the restaurant getting packed to capacity and also a queue of customers waiting outside. Indians love good food at honest prices. For this reason and experience, we would love to go back to Pind Balluchi.
