Geoffrey’s, Palms Club, Sushant Lok, Gurgaon

[Rated: 2.5/5]

Geoffrey’s showcases an interesting ambience made from wood and matching furniture reminiscent of an old English style pub. I met an old and dear friend, Milan Naik, at Geoffery’s to catch-up on the old times. The entry to the restaurant is through the lobby of Palms club which was filled with gentle fragrance of lemongrass; instantly relaxing my tensed up nerves after a hard day at work.
The dimly lit environment inside the pub further accentuating the mood. The decor looked right out of a period setting leaving you with a feel of being at a different place than usual pubs.

We settled on a table near the bar and immediately ordered for Caprioskas, plain salted peanuts, Fish Tikka and Mutton Seekh Kebabs. Our Caprioskas and peanuts arrived promptly. The Caprioska was a bit stronger than what we had ordered.

It took us over 20 minutes and an empty peanut bowl, to realise that our food order hasn’t yet arrived. We reminded the waiter and the order was on our table in a jiffy. However, we were disappointed to bite into cold and soggy Fish Tikka, though the Mutton Kebabs was soft and nicely spiced with mild aroma of cardamom. But the Kebab was also barely warm. Looked like our order was prepared some time ago and the waiter forgot to bring it to us while they were hot. We pointed out deficiencies in our order to our waiter who took them back only to return with reheated versions which didn’t help at all. We just couldn’t bite into the body-less Fish Tikka and it remained untouched. Mutton Kebab salvaged some of the evening we expected it to be.

The food and service at Geoffery’s didn’t gel with or expectations basis it’s reputation. The final experience was just average.
