While the place is small and the ambience is not extraordinary, still the overall experience has been satisfying. Gola Southend has improvised the preparations and now not only serves authentic continental Steaks, but on popular demand also serves Chinese and Indian sizzlers.
My personal favorites are Chicken Breast in Continental, Fish Fillet in Chinese and Kebab Sizzler in Indian options. Breast of Chicken has minced chicken filled inside a flattened breast and is served on the bed of vegetables with barbeque sauce spread on top of the chicken. Fish Fillet sizzler has delicate melt-in-the mouth fish cooked in red sauce with a slight sweet flavor and is served on the bed of rice or noodles. As the name goes, the main portion of sizzler in Indian option is Kebabs with some interesting options for vegetarian guests.
On my last visit I tried Mutton Beli Ram, cooked in pure ghee, which I shall certainly recommend. The Punjabi flavor of this succulent preparation is excellent and adds to the charm of this multi-cuisine restaurant. The serving staff attended to us with great enthusiasm, smile and personal attention (which these days is rare), and made our experience worth remembering. Gola Southend also serves wine and liquor and has dedicated top floor to the pub.
The average price of a sizzler is Rs 450 and includes accomplishments like garlic bread and cheese pasta sauce. The helpings are large and two sizzlers shall be good for three diners of normal appetite.
However, the outlet needs to work upon the interiors which have not kept pace with the changing times. The leg-space is cramped and rework is required to further improve the overall experience.
